Awami League will hold their polls rally at Suhrawardi Uddyan in the capital on Thursday, three days ahead of the January 5 national polls.
“The rally will be held at 2pm.” Awami League presidium member and Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said on Monday afternoon.
“From now on, there will be no processions with sticks, but with boats,” he told reporters at his office.
Over half of the 300 parliamentary constituencies will be won uncontested in the January 5 polls. Awami League will bag 127 seats among them.
Regarding the recent clashes inside Supreme Court premises, the minister termed it “unfortunate.”
The incident was being probed inside Awami League, he said. “Measures will be taken against those found involved.”
The minister also slammed BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia regarding her comments on Gopalganj, the ancestral home of Sheikh Hasina.
“She will erase Gopalganj from the map? The birthplace of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman...”
“Is she trying to give us the message that if she comes to power she will change the name of our country, Bangladesh?” Quader said.
