Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday urged people to resist the BNP-Jamaat activists who would try to prevent people from exercising franchise.
She made the statement at the rally at Shreenagar in Munshiganj district seeking votes for Awami League candidate Sukhranjan.
“Elections will certainly be held on January 5. You [people] will all go to polling centres and cast your vote. We will resist those altogether who try to impede you,” said Hasina.
She added: “Khaleda Zia would be tried as the vicariously liable one for the ongoing violence.”
“It's the BNP’s choice to boycott the election, but the party has no right to foil the polls,” she said.
