Authorities of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Monday announced a bounty of Tk1 lakh for helping in the arrest of the criminals involved with arson and the rampant vandalism of vehicles.
Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner at Media Centre of the DMP, said Tk1 lakh will be rewarded to those who will help them in arresting the criminals in the act trying to set fires or during the vandalism of vehicles in the DMP area.
He said: “Additionally, Tk25,000 will be rewarded to those, who will help in arresting criminal during the explosion of crude bombs, cocktails or petrol bombs.”
The DMP has published three of the DMP control room’s contact numbers, an e-mail address and a Facebook link where people can report such activities.

Calling them “criminals, enemies to the nation and threats to the country,” the DMP authorities urged all to help law enforcers in arresting them by providing information.
DMP Joint Commissioner Monirul Islam, also its spokesperson, said the decision of announcing a bounty on those criminals was an experiment.
As per the move, photographs of the 11 criminals have been published on the DMP’s website and various social media, he said.
Monirul said the criminals had been identified from among the people, who played key roles leading to the anarchies in Fakirapool and Motijheel areas immediately after the Jum’a prayers.
Earlier on December 15, the DMP announced a Tk1 lakh bounty on each of the 11 individuals who were allegedly involved with the violence on December 13 through rampages, arson and attacks on law enforcers in the capital’s Motijheel.
