Three people, including two cattle traders, were killed in a road accident on the Natore-Rajshahi Highway at Ekdala in the sadar upazila of the district early Thursday.
The deceased were identified as cattle traders Taijuddin and Hazrat Ali, both hailing from Gazipur district, and night guard Mukur Hossain, 50.
Highway police sources said the accident took place in the area around 4:30am when a Dhaka-bound speeding truck, loaded with buffaloes from the district, ploughed through a tea stall as the driver lost control over the steering, leaving Taijuddin and Hazrat Ali dead on the spot.
Night guard Mukur, who was then on duty beside the tea stall, was critically injured.
He was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead.
The driver and helper of the vehicle have escaped the scene.
