Police have recovered a shotgun from a drain in Kushtia municipality which was looted from the Kushtia Model Police Station.
It was recovered from the drain behind Afsar Uddin Madrashah in the city's Eidgahpara area around 12 pm on Thursday.
Kushtia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shihabur Rahman Shihab confirmed the matter. On Thursday, a municipal cleaner found the weapon while cleaning the drain. On information, Kushtia Model Police Station personnels recovered the weapon.
Moniruddin Bhasha, a cleaner of the municipality, said: "I was cleaning the drain behind the madrashah in the morning. At that time, I saw the firearm lying in the dirty water of the drain. Later, it was lifted from the drain and the police were informed. The police took the firearm."
Shihabur Rahman Shihab, officer-in-charge of Kushtia Model Police Station, said: “The stolen firearm was found abandoned in the drain. The municipality cleaner found the firearm while cleaning the drain. This is a shotgun of our police station. After receiving the news, we went to the scene and recovered the firearm."
Additionally, on 5th August this year, Kushtia Model Police Station was attacked, set on fire, and looted. Kushtia Model Police Station was reduced to rubble. Since then, the official work of Kushtia Model Police Station has been carried out at the Sadar police outpost.
