The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday arrested a Bangladeshi national from the Benipur-Kushumpur border under Moheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah. The arrestee was identified as Ullumia, 36, from the Benipur village.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sources said Ullumia was returning home with 14 heads of cattle from India at around 4:15am when BSF men picked him up and left the place, reports our Jhenaidah correspondent.
BGB Chuadanga Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Asad said a flag meeting was held in the morning between the two forces.
The Indian side informed that the issue could not be immediately settled because BSF’s surveillance team might detain Ullumia, the BGB official said.
Meanwhile, BSF allegedly picked up two students on Sunday, from the Pakuria border in the Dawlatpur upazila from the neighbouring district of Kushtia.
They were identified as Azam Ali, 15, a tenth grader from the Pakuria Madhyamik Bidyalaya and Mamun, 15, another tenth grader from the Insafnagar Madhyamik Bidyalaya, reports banglanews.
BGB sources said the duo went to their field adjacent to the border pillar 153-(123) when BSF men from the Krishan Camp under Hogolbaria thana of Nadia district of West Bengal picked them up.
Habildar Shamsur Rahman, head of BGB 32 Battalion of Thotarpara camp, said a letter was sent to BSF to get the two boys back, but there was no reply as yet.
