Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahman has resigned from his post in the wake of the recent hacking of Bangladesh Bank's reserve fund.
He submitted the resignation letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at PMO on Tuesday morning, PM's press secretary Ihsanul Karim told the Dhaka Tribune.
Listen Earlier in the morning, he told reporters at his residence in Dhaka that he is ready to resign from his job.
He said: “I am ready to resign. I need to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“I am just waiting for her orders.”
He also said: "If I have made any mistake, I apologies to the people of the nation."

Atiur returned to Dhaka on Monday after attending a conference of International Monetary Fund in New Delhi, the capital city of India.
Following the resignation, Finance Minister AMA Muhith’s press conference scheduled to be held at 2:30pm on Tuesday over the BB heist incident has been cancelled "due to unavoidable circumstances".
On February 4, hackers stole more than $80 million from Bangladesh Bank’s account with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and wired it to bank accounts in the Philippines.
On February 29, the Philippine Daily Inquirer broke the story of a possible $100m digital bank robbery of BB fund.
