The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday deferred cross-examination of controversial businessman Moosa Bin Shamsher by 10 days, responding to his plea for time extension.
Moosa had sought two months’ time on Tuesday. The ACC sent a notice to his address in Gulshan and his DATCO office in Banani informing him of its decision, the commission’s public relations official Pranab Kumer Bhattacharya said.
ACC Commissioner M Sahabuddin Chuppu told reporters that Moosa would have to appear before the commission on January 28 for questioning. Moosa was scheduled to appear before ACC on Tuesday but he moved the commission for time extension, claiming he was suffering from the fear of death, diabetes and hypertension.
The controversial business tycoon claimed of having $12 billion in his Swiss Bank account, apart from jewellery worth about $90 million and 1,200 bighas of land in Gazipur and Savar in an asset statement submitted to the commission on June 7 last year.
However, the Swiss Bank, when contacted by the Bangladesh Bank, said no one in that name had any account with it. The ACC summoned Moosa after that for questioning.
