PM: We won't tolerate insurgency in Bangladesh

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said her government will not tolerate insurgency in Bangladesh.

She made the remarks while visiting Minister of Power, Rural and Urban Development and Transport of Indian State of Tripura Manik Dey called on her on Sunday morning.

After the meeting, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters.

"We won't tolerate any sort of insurgency in Bangladesh...we want a peaceful atmosphere in this region," BSS quoted the premier as saying.

The prime minister also reiterated her government's firm stance and "zero tolerance policy" against terrorism and militancy.

She said none would be allowed to use Bangladesh's soil for insurgent activities against any country.

The prime minister expressed happiness to know that the officials of Bangladesh and India finalised tariff and other issues on importing 100 megawatt of electricity by Bangladesh from Tripura.

Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh is now the most attractive destination of investment and her government has undertaken steps to establish 100 economic zones to boost further industrialisation and generate employment in the country.

The Tripura minister said the state government is constructing a power plant at Monarchar in Tripura near Comilla border of Bangladesh.
