A total of fifty artists gave voice to a theme song for a memorial sculpture named Kalam Bhaskarja (a sculpture made of pen), at the Sruti Studio in the capital where the recording recently concluded.
Kanak Chapa and Maqsood lent their voices in the song as primary singers while 48 others accompanied them. The song’s lyricist is Mohammad Rafiquzzaman.
“An enormous sculpture entirely made of pen, aimed to be the biggest sculpture in the world, will be unveiled in the country to mark it’s 50th anniversary of independence in 2021. The song signifies this effort,” said Rafiquzzaman. The song will also be used for the campaign to collect 50 lac of pens which are required to build the sculpture. The lyrics is kalam-er cheye-o shaktishali to prithibite ar kisu nei. Moinul Islam Khan has tuned and composed the music for the cause.
This extraordinary initiative was taken by 100 young artists of the country who are currently studying arts at different universities. Singers Moinul Islam Khan and Kanak Chapa were moved by the idea of this project and gave their support.
Sharing detail of this musical project, Khan said: “The song is now on the editing table. Since the initiators have a detailed plan for this, we don’t know whether it will be released this month or not. Probably, they will go for a music video of the track as well.”
It has been known that Kalam Bhaskarja will be built through the collection of 50 lac pens donated by schools, colleges and universities. 50 pens from 50 dignitaries of the society including intellectuals, writers, columnists and editors will also be installed in the sculpture.
