The ruling Awami League-led 14-party alliance has called upon the Foreign Ministry to take necessary initiatives for trial of some 195 war criminal officials in the then Pakistan Army under the Simla Agreement
They also demanded return of Bangladesh resources from Pakistan looted during the 1971 Liberation War.
Spokesperson of the 14-party alliance, Awami League presidium member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim made the call at the press conference after a meeting of the alliance at the political office of Awami League president Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi in the capital.
He said the central 14-party alliance expressed indignation and strong protest over the terrible falsehood Pakistan resorted to by calling Bangladesh High Commissioner in Islamabad centring the execution of capital punishment handed down to war criminals Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Md Mujahid.
The 14-party alliance spokesperson said a call has been given to the Foreign Ministry to take immediate initiatives to get back the resources of Bangladesh looted by Pakistan during the war of liberation and the resources of the country deposited with the State Bank of Pakistan (central bank of Pakistan) then.
Mohammad Nasim said, "A total of 195 senior army Pakistani war criminal officials had been handed over to the Pakistani authorities in accordance with the Simla Agreement signed by India, Bangladesh and Pakistan in 1974. In that agreement, Pakistan assured trial of some 195 army war criminal officials but Islamabad did not try them, so far.”
