Bangladesh’s Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus has been ranked ninth among the most admired personality globally, according to a new survey by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
The results of the WEF’s Global Shapers Annual Survey 2015 released on October 25 placed late South African president Nelson Mandela at the top. Out of 1,084 respondents, 3% voted for Professor Yunus while 20.1% favoured Mandela.
After Mandela, the survey found that Pope Francis is the second most admired leader.
Others on the list are Microsoft founder Bill Gates (5th), US President Barack Obama (6th), Apple founder Steve Jobs (8th), and US investor Warren Buffett (11th).
Prof Yunus was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for founding Grameen Bank.
With responses from 125 countries worldwide and 285 cities, the survey of millennials is one of the most geographically diverse one.
