If you've got that stray ballet flat or even the plain Jane sandal you wore out, worry not. There's an easy way to revamp and tweak the look of your shoe with just a few sequins and lace of your choice. This works best if your shoe is solid and/or plain coloured. Re-docorating using sequins and laces is both easy and durable, giving you numerous options to choose from as well. Let your creative juices flow!
Things you will need:
1. An old pair of shoe
2. Glue gun
3. Glue sticks for glue
4. Lace, sequins or beads of your choice
5.Scissors
6.Cloth of your choice
Instructions:
Take a look at your stash of shoes and find an old pair that you want to redecorate.
Think of a unique design or pattern you can make with lace or unused printed cloth or any type of sequin. For this pair of shoe, a cheetah printed linen cloth was used along with gold beads lined in a thick row.
Once you have your design, measure and cut it according to the size of your shoe. For this design, the printed cloth was measured according to the front edge of the shoe. It was cut accordingly, leaving an extra bit of material that would be tucked between the sole and the upper edge of the shoe.
Place the glue stick in the glue gun and turn it on to let it heat up. Once the glue gun has become hot, it is ready to use. All you need to do is glue it slowly and gently as per the design you had in mind. For this pair, the printed cloth was cut in a U shape and glued to the front edge of the shoe. Then, a thin strip of golden coloured sequins were placed to give a more glamorous look.
Reminder:
Make sure not to stick anything underneath the shoe but just to the point where the sole starts. If it goes underneath, the design will come off from the friction while walking.
People who like to be creative with arts and crafts might already know what a glue gun is and its uses. For those who are not familiar, a glue gun can be easily bought from a crafts store near New market area. For the glue gun, one would require glue sticks that melt and dry to form hard, plastic like texture. It is easy to use and comes in handy for many other craft project.
The glue can be quite hot since it melts in the glue gun. So, it is important to be careful while using it.
