Ranjit, a retired mathematics teacher of Rangamati College, died around 3am while undergoing treatment at the burn unit of DMCH.

“44% of his body, including the respiratory systems, were damaged,” said Dr Partha Shankar Pal, residential surgeon of the institute.

Family members of Ranjit received his body yesterday noon and said they would take the body to their native village for funeral.

The mysterious arson attack near the Jute Research Institute in Chandina injured seven people, five of who are still undergoing treatment at DMCH.
