Sweden’s Mans Zelmerlow wins Eurovision 2015

Swedish singer Mans Zelmerlow beats Russia’s Polina Gagarina by 62 points to win this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna. Through a combination of well-timed animation and visual display, Zelmerlow took the title with his pop track “Heroes.” It was Sweden’s sixth Eurovision win, being just one victory behind the contest’s record holders Ireland, who have won seven times. Italy came in third, followed by Belgium and a solid performance from Australia, being fifth on their first attempt in the competition. On the bottom of the table, hosts Austria and Germany were on a null each, the first time after 2003 that any country had no points. The UK’s highly anticipated 1920’s themed swing act by Electro Velvet ended as 24th with only five points.

To mark the 60th anniversary of the event, a record of 27 countries participated in total. Here are the top five of the playlist with their allocated points.

Sweden Mans Zelmerlow - Heroes (365 points)

Russia Polina Gagarina - A Million Voices (303 points)

Italy Il Volo - Grande Amore (292 points)

Belgium Loic Nottet - Rhythm Inside (217 points)

Australia Guy Sebastian - Tonight Again (196 points)
