Three Narayanganj gas leak explosion victims remain critical

Three members of the same family, including an eight-year-old child, remain in critical condition after suffering severe burn injuries in an explosion caused by a gas leak in Narayanganj early Friday.

The injured — Md Maidul Islam, 27, Mosha Beauty Akter, 24, and Md Maruf, 8 — are undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

They were admitted to the hospital’s emergency department at around 9am.

Residential Physician Dr Shawon Bin Rahman said the three were brought to the hospital following an explosion caused by a gas line leak in the Narayanganj area.

“Maidul sustained burns to 85% of his body, Beauty sustained burns to 80%, and Maruf sustained burns to 90%,” he said.

“All three patients are in critical condition,” he added.
