A CNG-run autorickshaw driver died after a bus hit his vehicle in Dhaka’s Farmgate area on Wednesday.
The accident occurred around 12:30pm on the main road in the area. The victim was identified as Md Mamun Foraji, 33.
Kazi Faisal, a pedestrian who took the injured man to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said a speeding Labbayek Paribahan bus struck the CNG, broke its door, and threw the driver onto the road.
He said the driver was found lying on the road with severe injuries and bleeding. He was taken to the, hospital’s emergency department where doctors declared him dead at 1:09pm.
Faisal added that local residents detained the Labbayek bus.
Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of DMCH Police Outpost, said the body was kept in the hospital morgue and Tejgaon Police Station was informed.
The victim was identified through his driving license. He was the son of Md Sekandar Foraji of the Hirajhil area in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, he said.
