Policeman held over female colleague's death

Constable Zia allegedly cajoled Sabina Yasmin, 24, into an intimate relationship promising to marry her. Sabina committed suicide after Zia had refused to marry her, the victim's family claimed. Zia was arrested after he was accused in a case filed by Sabina's brother with Ashulia police. Ashulia police Officer-in-Charge Mohsinul Kadir confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Friday. He said Sabina's body was found hanging inside a house behind the police station on Wednesday afternoon along with an apparent suicide note. Police produced Zia before a Dhaka court on Thursday and sought seven days' time to interrogate him. The OC said police would initiate departmental actions against the accused policeman.
