The National Citizen Party (NCP) has reshuffled its top leadership, retaining Nahid Islam as convener and Akhtar Hossain as member secretary.
Nasiruddin Patwary and Hasnat Abdullah have been appointed senior joint conveners, while Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain and Sarjis Alam have been made senior joint member secretaries. Samanta Sharmin has been dropped from the party's highest decision-making body.
The reconstituted committee was announced in a notice signed by Sadia Farzana Dina, the party's office cell secretary, on Friday afternoon.
Nearly 21 months after its formation, the party has reshuffled several key positions despite not holding a national council.
Hasnat Abdullah, who has served as the party's chief organiser for the southern region since its inception, and Nasiruddin Patwary, who previously served as chief coordinator, have been appointed senior joint conveners.
Sarjis Alam, the party's chief organiser for the northern region, and Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, who served as its spokesperson, have been appointed senior joint member secretaries.
Samanta Sharmin, a prominent NCP leader following the July uprising, previously served as senior joint convener. She has now been retained as a joint convener.
Her role in the party reportedly became less active after the NCP formed an electoral alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami for the national parliamentary election held on February 12.
