The 26th General Meeting of the Bangladesh National Authority for the Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC) was held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Armed Forces Division on Monday, with a focus on strengthening compliance with national and international chemical weapons regulations.
The meeting was chaired by Lieutenant General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman, BSP, SUP, NDC, PSC, Chairman of the BNACWC and Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, said a press release.
A total of 43 military and civilian members of the BNACWC, representing various ministries, divisions, agencies, and the armed forces, attended the meeting.
Discussions centered on the effective implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and the Chemical Weapons (Prohibition) Act, 2006 of Bangladesh.
Participants highlighted that comprehensive registration and oversight of such facilities are essential for ensuring regulatory compliance and fulfilling Bangladesh’s obligations under the international Chemical Weapons Convention.
