Eid return train ticket sales begin Friday

Bangladesh Railway has completed the sale of advance train tickets for journeys ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr and will now begin selling advance tickets for return trips.

Advance tickets for return journeys will go on sale from Friday, according to railway authorities.

Tickets for travel on March 23 will be sold on the first day, allowing passengers to plan their return to Dhaka and other workplaces after the Eid holidays.

Railway sources said tickets for several days will be released in phases. Tickets for March 24 will be sold on March 14, March 25 tickets on March 15, March 26 tickets on March 16, March 27 tickets on March 17, March 28 tickets on March 18, and March 29 tickets on March 19.

To ease passenger suffering and simplify the process, all tickets will again be sold online this year, meaning passengers will not need to stand in queues at ticket counters.

Under the railway’s decision, tickets for all intercity trains operating in the western region will go on sale daily from 8am, while tickets for intercity trains in the eastern region will be available from 2pm.

With passenger pressure expected to be high during Eid, the railway has advised travellers to collect their tickets quickly at the scheduled times.
