Nazrul Islam Khan, political adviser to the prime minister and a standing committee member of the BNP, has emphasised the need to prioritise the skills and talents of young people in building the country.
“We need experience. But what we need most for work is the youth,” he said. “We must give importance to the thoughts, skills and talents of young people in nation-building.”
He made the remarks while speaking as chief guest at a “Debate for Democracy” program held at the FDC auditorium in the capital on Saturday.
Nazrul said integrating the ideas of young people into policymaking would help the country move forward.
Quoting former president Ziaur Rahman, he said: “People are not born with just a mouth; they are also born with hands to work. If we can turn our population into human resources, there are few countries richer than us.”
He also highlighted the need for better water management, noting that while many countries struggle with water scarcity and rely on rooftop storage, Bangladesh faces both floods and droughts.
“When we have excess water, we should conserve it. When we have less, we should use it efficiently. Then we will not face such problems,” he added.
