Anwara Park in Farmgate reopens to public after seven years

Anwara Park in Farmgate, Dhaka, closed to the public in 2018 for metro rail construction, has finally reopened after seven years. On Friday, the metro rail authority handed over the park to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), announcing its reopening for public use.

DNCC Administrator Mohammad Azaz said: “From today, Anwara Park in Farmgate is open to the general public. Residents can now enjoy this park again without any hindrance after being closed for so long.”

He added: “Although parks and water bodies are sometimes temporarily used for development projects, restoring them is not easy. Walkways will be constructed around the park, and we will start work very soon. We will also decide on keeping the park open at least until 10pm.”

At the handover ceremony, Dhaka Metro Rail Managing Director Faruque Ahmed said: “The metro rail project work in the park area is now complete. By January 15, all structures on the field will be removed, and the area will be cleared and cleaned.”
