Shadik Kayem urges students, public to avoid provocation over Hadi death

Ducsu Vice President Shadik Kayem on Friday urged students and members of the public across the country not to fall into any kind of provocation and to continue protests, resistance, and movements in a peaceful and united manner following the death of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.

Kayem made the call in a Facebook status on Friday.

He said the movement would continue until justice is ensured for those involved in Osman Hadi’s death and until what he described as the uprooting of the Awami League and Indian hegemonism.

“Martyr brother Hadi did not want to defeat fascist and hegemonic forces through violence. His ideal was to defeat fascist and hegemonic forces through intellect, reasoning, and knowledge,” Kayem said.

He added that the struggle would be a long one and that the objective for which Hadi gave his life could not be achieved through momentary excitement or violence.

“Rather, any reckless action will harm martyred Osman Hadi and our struggle,” he said, urging the people not to fall into any trap and to continue the movement peacefully, keeping Hadi’s ideals close to their hearts.
