The 64th birthday of Rezauddin Stalin—poet of love, protest, and humanity, general secretary of the National Poetry Council, and director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy—was celebrated on Saturday. The occasion was organized by the National Poetry Council.
The celebration, held at the Sangskriti Bikash Kendra, was attended by distinguished guests, including poets Matin Boiragi and Hasan Hafiz, poet and educator Dr Salimullah Khan, lyricist Shahidullah Faraji, and renowned photographer Nasir Ali Mamun, along with eminent poets, writers, intellectuals, journalists, and cultural figures from across the country. The event was presided over by poet Mohan Raihan, president of the National Poetry Council.
The program commemorated the vibrant chapters of the poet’s life and his works of love and protest. In the discussion session, Dr Salimullah Khan described Rezauddin Stalin as the most hardworking poet of his time, while Hasan Hafiz said that Stalin has elevated patriotic and people-centered poetry to a new dimension.
Other speakers highlighted that Bengali poetry is now discussed internationally and that Rezauddin Stalin has played a leading role in this journey. President Mohan Raihan remarked that Stalin is uncompromising with his ideals, and that his poetry is both aesthetically rich and intellectually profound.
Several literary figures also extended their greetings. Recitations of the poet’s works were performed by Tito Munshi, Farhana Trina, and Farzana Ali. Musical performances were given by artists Beby Naznin, Yasmin Mushtari, Nasir, and Lalonkonya Beauty. The event drew a large audience.
The program was hosted by poets Moniruzzaman Rohan and Shimul Parvin.
