AIUB hosts 3-day workshop on inclusive education toolkit

The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) successfully concluded a 3-day hands-on workshop titled "Introduction to the Inclusive Education Toolkit: Supporting Disadvantaged and Excluded Individuals and Communities in Bangladesh," held from Sunday to Tuesday at Hotel InterContinental, Dhaka.

The workshop was part of the British Council's TransNational Education (TNE) initiative under the "Generative AI for Good" project.

Funded by the British Council's "Going Global Partnerships" program, the workshop brought together experts from four countries and featured ten interactive sessions focused on leveraging AI-driven tools and inclusive pedagogical practices to enhance access to tertiary education for underrepresented groups in Bangladesh.

The sessions were led by a distinguished group of resource persons affiliated with Nottingham Trent University (UK), King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KSA), American International University-Bangladesh (BD), Buet (BD) and Jahangirnagar University (BD).

The opening ceremony, held on Sunday, was graced by Prof Dr Md Saidur Rahman, member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, as chief guest.

Special guests included Prof Dr M Mahfuzur Rahman, pro-vice chancellor (Academic) of Jahangirnagar University and Toufiq Hasan, head of Education at the British Council Bangladesh.

Prof Dr David J Brown, principal investigator from Nottingham Trent University, UK, joined as Guest of Honour.

The session was chaired by Prof Dr Saiful Islam, vice chancellor of AIUB.

The closing ceremony, held on Tuesday, featured Prof Dr M Kamrul Ahsan, vice chancellor of Jahangirnagar University, as chief guest, with Dr Md Fakhrul Islam, secretary of the University Grants Commission and Dr Sultan Mahmud Bhuiyan, director of the Private University Management Division, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, as special guests.

Guest of Honour remarks were delivered by Prof Dr David J Brown and Mr David Knox, director of Programs, British Council Bangladesh.

The closing event was chaired by Prof Dr Md Abdur Rahman, pro-vice chancellor of AIUB.

AIUB proudly led the organization of this impactful workshop in collaboration with Jahangirnagar University, Buet and Nottingham Trent University.

The event underscored AIUB's commitment to inclusive education and international collaboration, aligning with global efforts to ensure equitable access to quality higher education.
