On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast mixed weather conditions across different regions of the country.
Some areas may experience light to moderate rainfall, while others are likely to face heatwaves and high humidity.
However, the weather in most parts of the country is expected to remain dry.
On Friday, meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque said: “Light rain is likely in some areas of the eastern part of Dhaka Division, as well as in parts of Sylhet and Chittagong Divisions. However, most regions across the country are expected to remain dry and hot.”
He further added: “Although the monsoon season has begun, the monsoon is yet to become fully active. As a result, despite cloudy skies, rainfall will occur sporadically in various parts of the country. Mild heatwaves may sweep across Khulna and Rajshahi Divisions, including areas such as Faridpur, Gopalganj, Madaripur and the western part of Dhaka.”
According to the latest forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rainfall in several regions over the next five days, beginning at 9am on Friday.
The monsoon remains less active over Bangladesh and is weak to moderate over the northern Bay of Bengal.
Friday's forecast states that light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning, may occur at a few places in Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet Divisions and at one or two places in Dhaka, Khulna, Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh Divisions.
Day and night temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
