Despite services resuming across the country after the end of a strike by Bangladesh Railway running staff, some trains are still running late, causing suffering for passengers.
Bangladesh Railway Director General Md Afzal Hossain told journalists on Wednesday morning that some delays are expected as many workers who left their workplaces due to the strike need time to return.
Station Master Anwar Hossain said the first train from Dhaka, the Dhumketu Express, departed from Kamalapur Railway Station at 6:30am.
By 10:15am, around 10 trains had already left the station, he added.
Meanwhile, passengers complained that not only are trains failing to depart on time, but there is also no clear information on when they will leave.
Even though train services have resumed after the strike, passengers, struggling with the delays, expressed frustration over the disruption to their comfortable travel.
They urged the authorities to resolve issues before transport services like trains come to a halt, preventing such inconveniences in the future.
