Who is accompanying Khaleda Zia to London?

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will depart for London at 10pm on Wednesday for advanced medical treatment accompanying her will be members of her medical board, party leaders, personal staff and caretaker Fatema Begum.

According to the BNP Chairperson's office, her personal doctor and a permanent committee member of the party, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, will be accompanying her.

He has been serving as Khaleda Zia's personal physician for many years.

Other medical board members traveling with her include Dr Fakhruddin Mohammad Siddiquee, Dr Mohammad Sahabuddin Talukder, Dr Nuruddin Ahmed and Dr Mohammad Al Mamun.

Also accompanying Khaleda Zia will be her late son Arafat Rahman Koko's wife, Syeda Sharmila Rahman and party leaders including Advisory Council member Dr Mohammad Enamul Haque Chowdhury, Executive Committee member Tabith Awal, her personal secretary ABM Abdus Sattar, personal assistant Mohammad Masudur Rahman, protocol officer SM Parvez, and domestic staff including Fatema Begum and Rupa Shikdar.

Earlier, in a press conference at the BNP Chairperson's political office in Gulshan, Dr Zahid revealed that Khaleda Zia will travel to London via Qatar on a special air ambulance provided by the Emir of Qatar.

Four specialized doctors will also accompany her.

According to Khaleda Zia’s personal secretary Abdus Sattar, she will leave her Gulshan residence, Firoza, at 8pm and will arrive at the airport by 9 PM to complete immigration procedures.

Khaleda Zia, a three-time former Prime Minister, has been suffering from liver cirrhosis, kidney issues, heart problems, diabetes and arthritis for a long time.

After being sentenced in a corruption case in 2018, her health deteriorated further.

She has been in critical condition several times and rumors of her death have spread.

Despite requests from her party and family to allow her to receive treatment abroad, the government did not initially approve it.

However, after the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5 following a student uprising, Khaleda Zia was released under a presidential order and the court canceled the verdicts in the two corruption cases she had been imprisoned for.
