Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed on Sunday encouraged lawyers to write books on jurisprudence, saying that books are an essential supplement to life.
"I always believe that books complement life. We go through many stages or chapters in life. If there are imperfections or ambiguities in those stages, we cannot go back to correct them. However, after finishing a book, if we feel that we didn’t fully understand a chapter, we have the opportunity to reread it. By doing this, we can clear any ambiguities," he said.
The chief justice made these remarks after inaugurating the 10-day annual book fair of the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) at the Supreme Court premises.
This year, the fair features 48 stalls selling books on various subjects, particularly law and legal reference, politics, and children's literature, according to SCBA Administrative Officer Md Rabiul Hasan.
