BGC Trust University suspends student for his alleged link to lawyer murder in Chittagong

The private BGC Trust University has suspended a law student for his alleged involvement in the killing of a lawyer during a clash in Chittagong.

The university’s acting registrar, Dr S M Shoeb, issued an official notice regarding the expulsion on Wednesday afternoon.

The decision was made during an academic council meeting in the morning.

The suspended student, identified as Shuvo Kanti Das, is a second-year law student at the university.

Deputy Registrar Salauddin Shahriar said: “Students from the law department submitted a written appeal for his expulsion, alleging his involvement in the fatal clash that claimed the life of a lawyer.”

“Following this, the department’s academic council reviewed the matter and recommended his expulsion. The decision was subsequently approved in the university’s academic meeting.”
