Students from the private university anti-discrimination movement held a press conference, demanding the removal of newly appointed advisers Mustafa Sarwar Farooki and Sheikh Bashir.
They also raised 12 demands, including the participation of private university students in all areas of state machinery and the rehabilitation of families of the injured and deceased.
At the start of the press conference, they said that the public believes the contributions of private universities are no less important than those of public institutions, madrasas, and others.
Based on this belief, the students of the private university anti-discrimination movement have raised their 12 demands.
The students argued that placing advisers Farooki and Bashir, who have ties to fascism, on the advisory board is a clear betrayal of the martyrs' blood and goes against the spirit of the July Revolution.
They called for the removal of individuals who did not embody this spirit and demanded that such people should not be appointed in the future.
They emphasized that the appointment of advisers should not be done arbitrarily.
A committee should decide who will be on the advisory board, which must include representatives from political parties, public and private universities, and madrasa students.
They also demanded the assurance of justice for the genocide and the inclusion of students in the investigation committees.
The students called for the rewriting and reforming of the Constitution, the abolition of the 15% VAT imposed on private university education since students fund their studies, and an increase in research funding.
In the press conference, they said that although the interim government and advisers promised regular communication with students in decision-making, they have failed to ensure this.
The students demanded that their involvement be guaranteed in future decisions, considering the country’s overall situation.
They also called for the rehabilitation of those injured during the July Revolution, pointing out the lack of coordination in providing treatment for the injured, which needs to be resolved.
Above all, they stressed the need to ensure the participation of private university students in the state machinery.
