TCB items to be sold without family card from now

Alongside family cardholders, consumers without cards will also be able to purchase products from the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB).

Starting Thursday, consumers can line up in front of designated trucks at specific points to buy TCB’s fair-priced products (5 kg rice, 2 kg lentils, 2 liters of soybean oil for Tk470).

The development was disclosed in a notice signed by TCB Information Officer Md Humayun Kabir on Wednesday.

The notice said that under the overall guidance of the Ministry of Commerce, affordable TCB products will be sold to 10 million low-income cardholder families.

Additionally, arrangements have been made to sell subsidized oil, lentils, and rice supplied by the Directorate of Food to the general consumers through 50 trucks in Dhaka city and 20 trucks in Chittagong city.

This initiative will run from October 24 to November 31.

However, if inflation is not at a tolerable level, the program may be extended, as mentioned in the notice.

Asif Mahmud, adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Labour and Employment, will inaugurate this initiative at 10am on Thursday from Dakshin Begunbari (Deepika Mor), Tejgaon Industrial Area.
