The interim government has taken no decision so far to remove President Mohammed Shahabuddin Chuppu.
Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Apurba Jahangir informed this to reporters at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy on Tuesday.
Apurba Jahangir also stated that the Chief Adviser agrees with the opinion of legal advisor Dr Asif Nazrul regarding President Mohammad Shahabuddin.
On the other hand, the coordinator of the movement, Hasnat Abdullah, made this demand in a mass rally at the central Shaheed Minar in the afternoon and demanded the removal of the president within this week.
Earlier, regarding the President's comments on the former Prime Minister's resignation letter Asif Nazrul commented: “The President said that he has not received the resignation letter of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. It's a lie. This is like a violation of his (President's) oath."
Jahangir replied to the question whether it is Asif Nazrul's personal opinion, or the opinion of the entire advisory council including the chief adviser.
He said: “The government agrees with what legal adviser Asif Nazrul said.”
In response to a question whether any initiative will be taken to remove the President, he said, no initiative has been taken so far.
When asked about any future plans to remove the President, Jahangir replied: "Only future will tell."
The Chief Adviser's Press Wing also announced that the Interim Government Advisory Council has decided to restrict tourist access to St Martin Island for four months, from November to February, with plans for cleanup in February.
Apurba Jahangir stated that tourists will not be allowed to stay overnight in St Martin in November. In December and January, up to 2,000 tourists can visit daily and stay overnight. However, no tourists will be permitted in St. Martin in February due to scheduled cleaning. Additionally, the use of single-use plastics is prohibited on the island.
He said, “These steps have been taken for the environment. Single-use plastics will be completely phased out of Saint Martin Island."
When asked how the limit of 2,000 tourists per day will be determined, Jahangir responded: "The number will be confirmed when the tourists arrive."
At this time, the deputy press secretary of the chief adviser Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, Assistant Press Secretaries Nayeem Ali and Suchismita Tithi were present.
