Bangladesh to experience slow internet early Monday

The internet in Bangladesh will be slow for four hours early Monday, due to maintenance work on the submarine cable system at the Kuakata station in Patuakhali.

This information was shared in a notice by Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company PLC (BSCCL) on Monday. The company has expressed regret for any inconvenience caused.

Saidur Rahman, general manager, Operations and Maintenance of the company, said that from 2am to 6am on Monday, the Sea-Me-We-5 (SMW5) consortium will install a lighting filter on the country’s second submarine cable system in Kuakata.

During this period, all circuits connected to the Kuakata landing station via the SMW5 cable will be affected. However, circuits connected through the Sea-Me-We-4 (SMW4) submarine cable at the Cox's Bazar landing station will remain operational.

The statement also noted that users may experience slow connections or temporary disruptions during the maintenance period.
