Two firearms belonging to former State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, have reportedly gone missing along with their licenses.
The firearms, a pistol and a shotgun disappeared from the speaker's room in the Parliament House on August 5, the day of the fall of the Awami League government, according to the former state minister’s lawyer.
A complaint was filed with the Dhaka Deputy Commissioner’s office, and a copy of the complaint was submitted to the Singra police station.
Palak’s lawyer, Saddam Hossain, claimed that on August 5, Palak and his associates sought refuge in the speaker's Room on the fourth floor of the National Parliament House.
Considering the situation that day, Palak left the 32-bore pistol and 12-bore shotgun in the speaker's room and went into hiding.
The complaint was submitted to the Dhaka District Commissioner’s office on September 3, and a copy was later sent to Singra police station in Natore.
Singra Police Station’s OC, Abul Kalam, confirmed receipt of the copy.
It is noted that after the government’s fall, Zunaid Ahmed Palak attempted to flee abroad but was detained at the airport and subsequently arrested on August 14.
