The government has appointed 100 assistant judges (Probationary).
This appointment was announced through a notification issued by the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law on Monday following the recommendations of the Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission (BJSC).
The notification states that based on the recommendations of the BJSC dated December 31 of last year, 100 candidates selected through the "16th Bangladesh Judicial Service Examination, 2023" have been appointed to the assistant judge position in the Bangladesh Judicial Service.
They will be placed in the sixth grade of the pay scale (30,935-64,430) under the "Bangladesh Judicial Service (Pay and Allowances) Order, 2016," on a temporary basis, maintaining their seniority as determined by the commission.
In consultation with the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, the appointees have been assigned as assistant judges (Probationary) to various locations until further notice.
According to the appointment letter, the probationary period will last for two years from the date of joining.
However, this period may be extended by up to two additional years before confirmation, as stated in the notification.
The newly appointed assistant judges are requested to join their respective district and sessions judges by September 10.
Failure to join on the specified date will result in the cancellation of their appointment, as mentioned in the notification.
