Toll collection at Banani toll plaza relaunched on Elevated Expressway

The toll collection at the Banani-2 toll plaza of Dhaka Elevated Expressway, which was torched by miscreants during Revolution 2024, has been reopened.

Toll collection started manually (hand to hand) at the toll plaza from 5pm on Thursday.

A temporary booth has been set up for manual operations.

However, Mohakhali toll plaza remains closed due to extensive damage caused by the arson attacks during the movement.

Sources of the First Dhaka Elevated Expressway (FDEE) Company Limited, the construction and management company of Dhaka Elevated Expressway, confirmed the information, reports Prothom Alo.

Captain (retired) Hasib Hasan Khan, manager of the company's operations and maintenance department, said the route has been relaunched through manual toll collection at one of the four booths at Banani Toll Plaza from 5pm.

The remaining three booths will also be launched next week.

Mohakhali toll plaza will also be opened in phases.

In response to a question, he said that it will take some time to introduce the automatic system as before.

Earlier, miscreants torched the Banani toll booth on July 18 and the Mohakhali toll booth the following day.

After being closed for 24 consecutive days, normal toll operations on the Dhaka Elevated Expressway started on August 11, except for the two burnt toll plazas.
