Monjur Kabir appointed as CAAB chairman

Air Vice Marshal Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan has been appointed as the new chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB)

Muhammad Mustafiz Hasan, group captain, issued a notice on Friday regarding the appointment on behalf of the Air Secretary of Bangladesh Air Force. 

The appointment will take effect from August 18.

Before this appointment, Air Vice Marshal Bhuiyan was the commanding officer at BAF Base Zahurul Haque in Chittagong. He brings a wealth of experience and a distinguished career in the Bangladesh Air Force, having held numerous strategic positions.

The letter said that his new role as CAAB chairman will place him at the forefront of overseeing and regulating civil aviation activities in Bangladesh. 

The official handover and takeover process is scheduled to be completed between August 11 and 17. 

During this period, Marshal Bhuiyan will transition into his new responsibilities, ensuring a smooth transfer of duties.

Additionally, Air Commodore Sadikur Rahman Chowdhury, who is now the current CAAB chairman has transferred as the director of the Training Directorate at BAF Headquarters in Dhaka from CAAB.

During his tenure at CAAB, Air Vice Marshal Bhuiyan will continue to receive his salary, allowances, and other benefits in line with his previous position at BAF Base Zahurul Haque, as per his Last Pay Certificate (LPC). 

BAF Base Bashar will provide administrative support, and his employment will officially be under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. However, his lien will remain with the Air Force.
