10.4m animals sacrificed in this year’s Eid-ul-Azha

This year's holy Eid-ul-Azha saw the sacrifice of 10,408,918 animals across the country, which is 367,106 more than last year.

This information was revealed in a press release from the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock on Tuesday.

The ministry said that last year, 10.1 million animals were sacrificed across the country. In 2022, the number of sacrificial animals was 9.9 million.

The highest number of animals were sacrificed in Dhaka division this year, and the lowest in Mymensingh division.

According to the ministry's data, 2,529,182 animals were sacrificed in Dhaka division, 2,426,111 in Rajshahi division, 2,057,520 in Chittagong division, 1,172,553 in Rangpur division, 1,008,855 in Khulna division, 428,438 in Barisal division, 393,742 in Sylhet division, and 392,517 in Mymensingh division.

Among the sacrificed animals, there were 4,766,859 cows, 112,918 buffaloes, 5,056,719 goats, 471,149 sheep, and 1,273 other animals.

This year, the total number of animals eligible for sacrifice in the country was 12,980,367.
