16 cattle traders fined for setting up stalls in unauthorized places

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has fined 16 cattle traders for setting up animal stalls without permission in unauthorized places.

DSCC conducted three separate mobile courts in South City's Jigatola, Khilgaon Railway Line and Palashi Mor areas on Saturday.

South City Region-3 Regional Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Mohammad Shafiur Rahman, Corporation Property Officer and Executive Magistrate Md Moniruzzaman and Executive Magistrate Md Jahangir Alam conducted these drives.

Executive Magistrate Mohammad Shafiur Rahman said: "A small-scale unauthorized goat market has been evicted in front of Salek Garden raw market on Jigatola New Road. At this time, a fine of Tk10,000 has been imposed."

On the other hand, Executive Magistrate Md Moniruzzaman said: “Stalls for sacrificial animals will not be allowed to sit on the road, especially in places that are not approved. Three traders in this area have been fined Tk15,000.”

Executive Magistrate Md Jahangir Alam said: "Businessmen sat with goats on both sides of Palashi intersection. No permission has been given from the city corporation to set up a stall for the cattle market here. Therefore, 11 traders of this unauthorized cattle market have been fined Tk50,000.”

Later, the animals from the unauthorized markets were sent to the nearest authorized markets.

Some 16 traders have been fined a total of Tk75,000 for setting up unauthorized stalls on Saturday, according to DSCC sources.
