SI at risk of losing eye after attack by hijras in Paribagh

A sub-inspector of police (SI) of Ramna police station is at risk of losing one eye following an attack allegedly carried out by members of the hijra community in the capital’s Paribagh area.

The incident took place around 3:30am on Saturday. 

According to police sources, a police team, including injured SI Mojahid, was on duty in the Paribagh area, when they saw a group of hijras attempting to commit robbery. 

Sensing the police's presence, the group threw brickbats at them and one of them hit SI Mojahid’s eye.

Quoting doctors, Ramna police station OC Utpal Barua said SI Mojahid was admitted to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Eye Hospital and underwent surgeries.

Three hijras have been arrested in connection with the incident.
