Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun said on Saturday that the police have been effective in containing militancy and terrorism in the country.
He added that the police now have the necessary manpower and logistical support to restore and ensure discipline on the roads.
The IGP made these remarks while speaking to reporters after inaugurating the Mrityunjoyi terracotta, which is based on the country’s history and Liberation War, at the Moulvibazar Police Lines. He also inaugurated the Bangabandhu Corner at the office of Moulvibazar’s superintendent of police (SP.
SP Md Monjur Hossain presided over the inauguration event, which was attended by the district’s senior government officials, among others.
The country’s 31st police chief earlier said the same about militancy and terrorism at another event in Sunamganj on Friday.
Additionally, he has long been vowing to battle against drugs, militancy and terrorism in Bangladesh.
“New generation and those to come will learn about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the armed struggle during the country’s Liberation War from the terracotta,” IGP Abdullah Al-Mamun said Saturday.
The terracotta also highlights the country’s major historic events ranging from the 1952 Language Movement while featuring local tea gardens and tourism.
The artwork is 60 feet wide and 5 feet high. Bangabandhu is depicted in the center of the terracotta with his iconic appearance from the historic March 7 speech.
