Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury said on Monday that any misleading information in government school textbooks will be corrected.
Calling for a stop to politicization in the name of opposition to the curriculum, he said: "Participation of madrasa teachers in the National Curriculum and Textbook Board will be ensured. They will be able to give their opinions and contribute to the textbooks for madrasas.”
He made the statement during an exchange meeting with the leaders of the Shadhinata Madrasah Shikkhak Parishad at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital.
Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury further said: “The Islamic ideology prevailing in this subcontinent for thousands of years is practiced in the country's Aliyah Madrasahs. Keeping the characteristics of Islamic education intact, a new curriculum has been introduced in madrasas. It was welcomed by students and parents. The new curriculum is efficient. It will help in creating employment for madrasah students. There is no conflict with religion.”
Technical and Madrasah Education Department Secretary Dr Farid Uddin Ahmad said: "Madrasa students study religious subjects in addition to national curriculum subjects. So they are keeping up with the mainstream and achieving in various fields.”
Teacher leader Shahjahan Alam Saju said: "Some individuals have served their own interests in the name of the madrasa teachers' organization in the past. They were more busy promoting the ideology of the anti-liberation force Jamaat-e-Islami than practicing Islam. However, the current government is working to maintain the environment of true Islamic practice in madrasas.”
In the meeting, teachers from all over the country said that everyone associated with the madrasas has accepted the new curriculum positively.
Additionally, everyone present promised to play an effective role in the implementation of the new curriculum.
