The Jatiya Party will not form any alliance with any other party or independent lawmakers for the seats reserved for women in the 12th national parliament.
A letter signed by Mujibul Haque Chunnu, secretary general of the party, was sent to Election Commissioner Md Jahangir Alam confirming this on Sunday.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Election Commission had written to the political parties in parliament and 62 independent MPs who had won the election to know whether they would join any party or alliance. In the letter, the commission gave a deadline of January 31 to clarify their positions.
