Seize of Katenga Razakar Camp; Terokhada, Khulna
Freedom Fighters captured the Razakar camp at Katenga Higher Secondary School in Terokhada of Khulna, on the third attempt on December 2, when over 100 armed Razakar members surrendered.
The camp was set up by Razakar commanders Abdur Rashid Molla, Adil Uddin Molla, and Yakub Molla on May 30. The first attack was launched on August 5, as planned by Abdul Jalil Mia, Rana and Nuru Mia, an Air Force commando who had fled West Pakistan. Captain Foham Uddin coordinated the operation, which was also attended by seven Freedom Fighters from the Kalia area; Habildar Sirajul Islam, Constable Jonab Ali, and Ansar member Akkas Ali from Gopalganj; 40 Freedom Fighters from Gazirhat led by Nurul Huq Molla; and civilians armed with locally-made weapons. During the operation, 26 members of the Razakar group were killed, a Freedom Fighter lost his life, and two others sustained injuries.
Captain Foham Uddin launched the second attack on August 28 after Prafulla Kumar Dhali, who joined the operation with two SLRs and four rifles after taking training in India. The Freedom Fighters had to retreat on information of the mobilisation of army soldiers from Khulna. In the final attack on December 2, around 200 Freedom Fighters divided into four groups, led by Captain Foham Uddin, Nurul Huq Molla, Sohrab Hossain, and Abdul Jalil, encircled the camp and defeated the enemies after around six hours. Over 100 Razakar members surrendered after the operation ended.
Battle of Majhipara; Shajahanpur, Bogra
This battle took place in the South Majhipara area, some 8-9km from Bogra town, on December 2 and 3, 1971. A number of Pakistani soldiers were killed in the ambush, while others fled the camp. One Freedom Fighter named Dhiren was martyred in the fierce battle, led by Commander Johurul Islam, AFM Fazal, and Nazibor Rahman. It was aimed at disrupting the movement of soldiers and the transport of ammunition.
Battle of Ziri Kazirhat; Patia, Chittagong
Some Pakistani soldiers and Razakar members faced an ambush as they came to Ziri Kazirhat Bazar in Patia, Chittagong, on two jeeps on December 2. The Freedom Fighters, led by Mohsin Khan Group and Mohammad Lokman Group, killed the soldiers and their collaborators after a battle that lasted for over two hours. On the other hand, two freedom fighters—Mohammad Lokman and Badiul Alam—and three civilians—Dhirendra Nath Shil, Brajendra Lal Shil, and Abdus Salam—were martyred.
Battle of Bhabanipur; Harinakundu, Jhenaidah
Bhabanipur is a Hindu-dominated village where the local Zamindars used to help the Freedom Fighters with shelter and food. This is why the Pakistani military could not enter the village. At 5:30am on December 2, the soldiers, together with the Bihari people and Muslim League members, came to the village on two trucks but faced resistance. Apart from the Freedom Fighters, six villagers joined the battle with their personal arms; one, Fazlur Rahman, cut off the tyres of the trucks with a curved knife. The Bengalis killed 41 Pakistanis, including a captain and a doctor; on the other hand, two Freedom Fighters named Sadar Uddin and Taz Uddin were martyred.
Seizure of police stations
Some 50 Freedom Fighters from the Pangasia Camp in Charfesson in Bhola launched an attack on the local police station under the leadership of Ziaur Kuddus Liakat and his deputy Ali Hasan Dulal. The duo first went close to the police station, identifying themselves as paddy wholesalers, and then attacked the facility together with other members and forced the officer-in-charge to surrender.
On this day, Wazirpur Upazila in Barisal was freed from the clutches of the occupation forces. The Freedom Fighters, led by Commander Abdul Wadud, launched a massive attack on the Wazirpur police station, forcing 55 soldiers, 35 police personnel, and many Razakar members to surrender.
