Cyclone Hamoon: Power supply likely to be restored in Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar by Thursday 3pm

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that the power distribution system which has been snapped in Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar due to cyclone Hamoon will be restored as soon as possible. 

It is expected that supply will be normal by 3pm Thursday, said Nasrul Hamid. 

The state minister said this in a press release signed by the information officer of the ministry on Wednesday night.

At this time, Nasrul Hamid requested the customers to keep patient and cooperate.

Meanwhile, 450,000 customers in Cox's Bazar Palli Bidyut Samity and 410,000 customers in Chittagong-1 Palli Bidyut Samity have been suffering from power outages due to Cyclone Hamoon. 

Already 55,000 connections in Cox's Bazar and 130,000 connections in Chittagong-1 have been recovered 

About 700 linecrews are working in the field divided into 163 groups. 

Besides regular manpower and contractors, additional manpower and contractors have been sent to Cox's Bazar district from Chittagong PBS-2 and Chittagong PBS-3.

However, there is no adverse impact on gas supply due to the cyclone. 

Cyclone Hamoon, which made landfall on Tuesday evening, has wreaked havoc in Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar, causing extensive damage and claiming lives.
