Jatiya Party MP Mashiur Rahman Ranga said the information that he has been given a visa ban by the United States is not correct.
“This is false information. My visa may have expired. And I didn't make any new requests,” he said on Monday night.
He added that the US did not inform him about anything. “I don't even know. Visa policy is a personal matter of US’ state policy.”
Earlier in the day, a report circulated that Mashiur Rahman Ranga was under the purview of the US visa sanction policy.
On September 22, the US State Department said in a statement that restrictions regarding visas will be imposed in Bangladesh.
"The US is taking steps to impose visa restrictions on Bangladeshis who obstruct or engage in the democratic election process," the statement said.
These individuals include current and former Bangladeshi officials, law enforcement, judiciary, members of security forces, and members of the ruling party and opposition political parties.
