Dhaka South City Corporation's (DSCC) mobile court has fined Bareesh Hasan Chowdhury, son of the late Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, the founder of Gonoshasthaya Kendra, Tk20,000 after finding larvae of the Aedes mosquito at his residence.
DSCC Zone-1 Executive Magistrate SM Manjurul Haque fined him during a drive on Wednesday.
Nine other mobile courts conducted anti-dengue drives in the areas of Khilgaon, Mayakanon, Jhauchar, Hazaribag, Jigatala, Tikatuli, West Nandipara, North Manda, Kazirgaon, Kutubkhali, Merajnagar, and Zia Sarani.
In total, these mobile courts inspected 538 establishments and found Aedes mosquito larvae in 13 residential and under-construction buildings.
Consequently, they imposed fines amounting to a total of Tk2,86,000 in 13 cases.
