Bangladeshi killed by miscreants in South Africa

A Bangladeshi was shot dead by miscreants in South Africa's Belcom town on Monday.

The deceased is Md Belal Hossain, 50, son of Md Yunus Mia of Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni.

At around 9:30am South African time on Monday, he was shot at his workplace.

Md Mostafa, elder brother of the deceased, said that through relatives staying in that country, they came to know that local miscreants had been demanding large sums of money from Belal for several days but he had denied to pay them.

Angered by this, the miscreants broke into Belal's workplace, shot him and took away money from the shop's cashbox.

Later, the local people rescued him in a bloody state and took him to a hospital there. The doctor on duty at the hospital declared him dead.

Preparations are underway to bring Belal Hossain's body to the country, said his elder brother.

Belal Hossain moved to South Africa 16 years ago. His family said they have several other relatives there. Belal worked for some time after going to that country. Then he started his own business. He has a wife, son and daughter at home. He used to send money home regularly.
